Ah, the almighty Opeth. By general consensus, every album of theirs has been deemed brilliant. Hell, they’ve even had rotation on MTV without elitists tearing them a new asshole for it. Yet admittedly, it took me a long while to understand and enjoy this band. Years, even. But after listening to Still Life, I’ve finally seen the light.

Okay, so I didn’t finish it today. I should know better than to estimate the length of time for a pencil piece. It really brings out the worst of my anal retentiveness.

I’ve read one of Klause’s books before and liked it, so I was intrigued going into The Silver Kiss, her first novel. While I find it weaker than Blood and Chocolate, it still contains the same surprising twists to a well-used, even stale, setting.

Want to know what I find extremely irritating? I mean, mosquito-bite-itchy, car-alarm-at-3-AM, cell-phone-ring-during-movie-theatre irritating? Name-dropping in books. Nothing will snap me out of a read faster than a lame Nirvana reference or mentions of Nike shoes. Call it a pet peeve.

Refined the treeman sketch and am now beginning to shade it in. About one hour so far.

You know, I could lie and say this is somehow related to Darren Hare and Villain Month, but truthfully I really just wanted to draw a tree man. About 25 minutes, no reference used.
