I really loathed this one as I painted it; nothing seemed to be working. But it doesn’t look so bad now. Watercolor, about 30 minutes.

    Were the blotches in the background created by alcohol swabs by any chance?

    Thanks! Actually, I used a lot of pigment on very wet paper and then sprinkled table salt all over. One of these days I’ll have to experiment with alcohol, though; I hear it can do a lot of interesting effects.
